Service Department

Service Manager Doug Rautio
We are excited here at Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson (RVHD) and New River Valley Harley-Davidson!!! I would say it’s safe to say that change is in the air for 2010!
Ok a little about myself. I retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2000 and decided to pursue a new career with Harley-Davidson. I took my first step by attending the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. While attending school, I was given a chance to get started turning wrenches with Buddy Stubbs Arizona Harley-Davidson, where I started off setting up motorcycles and worked my way up to full technician status before leaving to come back to my home in Virginia and join the RVHD team. I started off as a technician in Service here, and after about 2 years Loyd and Kathy asked me to become their Parts Manager. Many of you probably know that’s where I’ve been until now, but effective January 26, 2010, I will be your new Service Manager at RVHD. I look forward to the new challenge and I AM EXCITED!!!! I have established a goal/motto/mission statement, whatever you want to call it, “Let’s Build A Relationship”. I want to become your preferred Service Department and my staff and I are going to work hard to Build That Relationship With You. I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.

When you bought your Harley-Davidson® bike, it came equipped with more than chrome and leather. Implicit in your purchase was the promise that skilled professionals would be there to service your bike when the time came. We know any product is only as good as the service backing it up. For that reason, whether it’s routine maintenance, repairs, or customizing, Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson is prepared to do it all.

We offer full Harley-Davidson service:
  • Check-ups
  • Warranty work
  • Harley-Davidson Extended Service Plan work
  • Complete engine rebuilds
  • Accident repair
  • Transmission overhauls
  • High-performance engine work
  • Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson also has Virginia State motor vehicle safety inspectors on premises to handle bike inspections.

Our service department’s facilities enable us to perform major repairs on your Harley-Davidson® bike. We also have access to contract services such as chrome plating, painting, and powder coating.

When these services are required, all you need do is call to make an appointment then, drop off your bike with us. We will take responsibility for getting your bike parts sent out, returned, and put back on.

Our service department uses Genuine Harley-Davidson® parts, whenever possible. We believe if you bought a Harley-Davidson® bike, you want to keep it a Harley-Davidson, and genuine H-D® parts are the same factory parts that were on your bike when it was new.

Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson makes every effort to meet the needs of service customers. We do this in several ways:
  • We are open 6 days per week, Mond.-Fri. 9AM - 6PM, Saturdays 8AM - 5PM. Closed Sundays.
  • We provide weekday appointments and first come first serve on Saturdays.

Saturdays are on a first come first serve basis and only jobs of 3 hours or less are accepted. Please understand that our Saturday service means not all jobs may get in, especially during the busy riding season.

Our shop rate is $70 per hour. We still have one of the more competitive labor rates of all Harley-Davidson shops in Virginia.

  • As an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer, we carry an extensive line of genuine Harley-Davidson® parts.
  • Our service staff consists of full-time technicians and a service manager. All our technicians are required to participate in ongoing, in-house Harley-Davidson training to keep abreast of changes in Harley technology. Techs also attend factory-sponsored training in various parts of the country, and are ranked in the dealership on the basis of their demonstrated competence.

When you turn your motorcycle over to our service department, we will do everything in our power to merit that trust. We take seriously our pledge to you, which is taken from Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s Mission Statement and Values:

  • We will always tell you the truth, providing full and accurate representation of the facts or situation.
  • We will be fair, basing decisions and judgments on facts.
  • We will keep our promises, doing what we say we will do.
  • We will respect the individual, treating all people with dignity.
