Zack Shiffer - General Manager of Shiffer Motorcycles, LTD
Hello! Many of you already know me, but I’ll go ahead and give you some of my
background with the dealership. I have worked (at one time or another) in every
department. While I was in high school, I was a service writer, a setup tech, and
worked on the parts counter (not all at the same time!).
During summers home from college, I would work as a salesman, and then I
continued to be a salesman for a little while after college. Later I transitioned to Parts
Manager, and then to General Manager in 2003. I am excited about this new challenge,
and am looking forward to working with Peery Gibson (General manager of New River
Valley Harley-Davidson) and the staff at that location. As an obvious result, I won’t be
in Roanoke as often. We have made many changes to serve you better, and I think that
this will be apparent already. I look forward to hearing your feedback on what we have
done, and look forward to being your Harley dealer for many years to come!
Travis Shiffer - Director of Retail Management
It is with some sadness and excitement that I am being promoted to a new position
within RVHD. Being a part of the Service Department for over fifteen years, I started
learning on the job after school let out and on weekends. In 1994, I became a full
time tech eventually moving to foreman and for the last few years, Service Manager.
My new role is Director of Retail Management. This position will allow me to
make your experience as Harley-Davidson riders even better than it is now by
managing advertising, general merchandise and parts.
Harley-Davidson customers are the best customers and I look forward to
representing this dealership to you with a slightly different appeal. Thanks for your
patronage! | |

Doug Rautio - Service Manager
We are excited here at Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson (RVHD) and New River
Valley Harley-Davidson!!! I would say it’s safe to say that change is in the air for 2010!
Ok a little about myself. I retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2000 and decided to pursue a
new career with Harley-Davidson. I took my first step by attending the Motorcycle
Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. While attending school, I was given a chance to
get started turning wrenches with Buddy Stubbs Arizona Harley-Davidson, where I started
off setting up motorcycles and worked my way up to full technician status before leaving to
come back to my home in Virginia and join the RVHD team. I started off as a technician in
Service here, and after about 2 years Loyd and Kathy asked me to become their Parts
Manager. Many of you probably know that’s where I’ve been until now, but effective
January 26, 2010, I will be your new Service Manager at RVHD. I look forward to the
new challenge and I AM EXCITED!!!! I have established a goal/motto/mission statement,
whatever you want to call it, “Let’s Build A Relationship”. I want to become your preferred
Service Department and my staff and I are going to work hard to Build That Relationship
With You. I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
